FAQ

Answers to the questions we hear most, for both individual players and companies booking a session.

🎮 The Game Itself

What is Pick-A-Side Game Show?

A live-hosted, real-time game show where four players compete using Boost, Sabotage, and Help actions to try to come out ahead - all while a real host runs the show live.

What do Boost, Sabotage, and Help actually do?

Boost lets you add a small amount to your own total. Sabotage lets you take from another player. Help lets you give some of your own total to someone else. Each has its own cost, and the balance between them is what makes the game genuinely tense.

What happens if my internet drops or my tab closes during the game?

As long as you don't click a 'Leave' button, your spot is safely held - your host can send you a link to jump straight back in, even if your device or connection dropped.

Is the game recorded?

Yes, every session is recorded, mainly so you and your team can look back on it afterward.

🏢 Booking For Your Team

What packages are available?

We offer a few packages at different price points, each including a set number of full games and a set session length. Exact pricing and details are shown on the booking page.

Can we add more people to actually play, not just watch?

Yes - since every game needs exactly 4 players, you can add extra games to your booking, each giving a fresh group of 4 a turn to play.

Is there a limit on how many people can watch?

No - watching is free and unlimited for anyone on your team. We just ask for a rough headcount when booking so we can plan accordingly.

Do we have to play for real money?

No. You can choose real cash stakes (minimum $100, to keep the game genuinely tense) or play purely for bragging rights with no money involved at all.

If we choose real cash, who actually handles that money?

You do. Pick-A-Side Game Show never collects, holds, or distributes prize money - your company sets it, funds it, and pays your own winning employees directly. We only run the game.

Can we customize the game settings?

Yes - you can adjust the Boost, Sabotage, and Help amounts when you book. The milestone amount (how much a player needs to lock in guaranteed winnings) is set by your host, calibrated to your specific jackpot size to keep the game balanced.

How far in advance do we need to book?

This depends on current availability, which is shown live on the booking calendar. Times are shown in your own local time zone, whatever that is.

What happens after we book?

You'll get an immediate confirmation email. Your host will follow up separately with the actual player codes and a link for anyone who wants to watch, closer to your session.

Where do we go on the day of the game?

You'll receive a custom link for your company - it shows your session details and a countdown to game time. Once it's time, your team can enter their codes right there. After your session, that same link automatically shows your results.

Can we get a copy of our results afterward?

Yes - once your session wraps up, your results page includes a download button so you can save a copy for your team.

👤 Signing Up To Play (Individuals)

How do I sign up for an episode?

Head to our Sign Up page and grab an open spot in an upcoming episode.

What does it mean if I'm on Standby?

Only 4 people play per session. If the main 4 spots are full when you sign up, you're placed on standby - you may get called in if someone doesn't show, but might not play if everyone shows up as planned.

How will I know if I get moved from Standby into the game?

You'll get an email the moment a spot opens up and you're confirmed to play.
